William Bailey Travel Reviews the Portland Aquarium

Posted on 02.09.16

William Bailey Travel Reviews the Portland AquariumTraveling with your family and are seeking something fun and interesting to do in Portland, Oregon? Do you find yourself with a desire to touch a Giant Pacific Octopus? Then you might want to consider a visit to the Portland Aquarium. It is a great family-friendly place to bring the kids, but it also has something for the adults to enjoy. With over 12,500 square feet, guests have access to a huge variety of birds, reptiles, cold water and tropical fish. William Bailey Travel reviews this popular attraction in Portland.

The Portland Aquarium wants everyone to enjoy the unique interactive experiences that are found inside. There are over 3,000 living animals representing a variety of habitats from the Oregon shores to remote islands in Indonesia. It strives to introduce children and families to the ecosystem that exists beneath the surface of the ocean and to instill in children a respect for marine life. Workers encourage one-on-one experiences for guests and offer opportunities to hand feed sharks, birds, reptiles and other animals on exhibit at the Aquariums. There are thousands of species and interactive exhibits for you and your family to explore during your visit. Included in these displays is a touch tank where guests may be amazed to discover that a shark’s skin is much softer than they might think.

The Aquarium offers extensive educational programs and events for kids and offers behind the scenes tours for patrons who are interested in learning more about what it takes to keep the Aquarium running. Educational programs include “Marine Biologist for a Day,” a program developed by the owners to “inspire a young generation of ocean explorers and conservationist through education and shared experience with live animals…” In addition the space is available for birthday parties, corporate events, and family events and offers free admission to foster children.

The Portland Aquarium is located at 16323 SE McLoughlin Boulevard. Hours of operation are 10am-7pm, Sunday-Thursday, 10am-8pm, Friday and Saturday. There are a variety of ticket pricing options available which can be found online at portlandaquarium.net.
